SRCWA State President Hugh Rogers
a finalist in the 2018 Western Australia Senior Australian of the Year Awards

Seniors Recreation Council of WA is proud to announce State President Mr Hugh Rogers is a finalist in the 2018 Western Australian Senior Australian of the Year Awards.
Over the last 25 years, Hugh Rogers has donated a staggering 20,000 hours of his time to the Seniors Recreation Council of WA. Joining the Council as a volunteer in 1992, Hugh started by running a mixed indoor bowls tournament but was soon to become a volunteering powerhouse who has created a host of innovative programs for senior Australians. The Council’s President since 2001, Hugh's personal vision, creativity and initiative have achieved stunning success. Have a Go Day celebrates social inclusion and brings together more than 15,000 seniors to experience new activities. The LiveLighter Aged Care Games helps older people in care to take part in specially-adapted activities. Under Hugh’s leadership, the council has expanded to encompass 11 branches which support thousands of seniors to interact, learn new skills and stay active. The embodiment of the Council’s philosophy – healthy ageing through activity – Hugh is a positive force for good, helping thousands of people to stay healthy, connected and part of their community.
We wish Hugh and all the other finalists all the best for the upcoming presentations in the near future.
