LiveLighter Aged Care Games Albany

This year at the Great Southern LiveLighter Aged Care Games SRCWA welcomed two new teams to the competition held at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.  Ten teams took part in a range of games modified especially for seniors in care.  It was great to see familiar faces and catch up with all the facilities staff who enthusiastically support their participants and theme their teams for the day.   Apart from the very competitive nature on the day there was a lot of laughter, cheering and shaking of hands.  SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the support from the Albany Region Over 50’s Recreation Association who volunteered helping to set up and officiate along with the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre staff who assisted on the day.  Our thanks also gooes out to local photographer Bob Symons and his wife Thelma who helped cover this event. State President Hugh Rogers welcomed the teams and introduced City of Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington to open the Great Southern LiveLighter Aged Care Games. Entertainment was by Albany Memory Lane who provided a medley of songs throughout the event.  In third place was Annie Bryson Dominoes, second place Bethel Olympians and in first place Walpole Stars. Best dressed team was West Coast Emus our oldest competitor on the day Yvonne McFay who is 98 years young.
